Mongol Rally Info

The Mongol Rally started in 2001 when two people set off in a Fiat 126 to see if they could get from London to Mongolia. They didn't. Little did they realise what they had started; over the last few years a growing number of highly unlikely adventurers in highly unsuitable cars have attempted the journey.

In 2004 6 teams set off, 4 made it.

In 2005 43 teams set off, 18 made it.

In 2006 167 teams set off, 117 made it.

In 2007 there are 200 teams in the rally, from the UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Holland, the USA and the People's Republic of Willesden (that's us!).

The rules are quite simple:

1. Your vehicle must only have an engine size of 1 litre or less. Motorbikes limited to 125cc.

2. Each team has to raise £1000 for the official rally charities.

3. There is no support crew.. You're on your own!

4. You must be a bit loopy. (Actually that's not a rule, but a strong recommendation).
